Precision Engineered Lighting Solutions for New England Business

Industrial Lighting, Commercial Lighting, Energy Conservation
LighTec, Inc. is New Hampshire's largest design-build high efficiency lighting systems company. Since our inception in 1990, we have evolved into a regional company providing lighting solutions for a diverse range of customers in the commercial and industrial sector as well as schools and municipalities

Our comprehensive survey, engineering, installation, and maintenance process is unique in the energy services industry. It is for this reason that we take great pride in publishing what we feel, should be the standard approach to providing the highest quality service, as well as the highest degree of customer satisfaction.

With experienced sales people, engineers, and project managers, LighTec staff members are available to discuss your specific lighting needs. We will show you how to cut costs, boost profits and enhance your working environment.

Lighting Services - Turn Key Installation
  • LighTec has a purchasing function that maintains strong relationships with many distributors and manufacturers to ensure some of the lowest product pricing in the industry.

  • Make arrangements for lamp and ballast disposal. All disposal is conducted in strict compliance with LighTec's specifications.

  • Make all arrangements for material storage and handling to minimize the effect on the customer.

  • Manage all aspects of the project installation including the coordination of work times, crew size, daily work locations, scheduling, record keeping, etc.

  • Ensure installation compliance with the Audit Model. Any necessary deviations from plan must have customer approval.

  • Clean up any loose ends, obtain final customer approval, and explain the on-going maintenance process.
  • LighTec maintains close relationships with a number of manufacturers throughout the country. We have arranged special pricing through distributors GE, Sylvania, and Philips lighting.

  • How does this benefit our customers ? First, if our customers are satisfied with the existing brand of lighting materials, LighTec can install our project in keeping with this preference. Second, because of the many projects we are currently installing, we aggregate our purchasing bringing economies of scale to each element of your lighting project.
  • Any leaking ballasts not labeled "Contains No PCB’s" will be assumed to contain PCB’s. These ballasts and any material that they contact shall be placed in locking polyethylene bags labeled hazardous material and immediately packed in DOT 17C or 17H shipping containers for EPA approved high temperature incineration. The container tops of all drums will be secured to the drums when not being loaded. All loaded drums will be sealed for shipment to federally approved waste disposal facility.

  • Fluorescent lamps contain a small quantity of mercury that may pose a hazard to human health or the environment when improperly managed. At all times, fluorescent lamps will be handled in a way that minimizes breakage. Many states consider fluorescent lamps to be hazardous waste. LighTec manages the removal and disposal of all hazardous waste in strict accordance to local, state and federal regulations. For this reason, all spent fluorescent lamps will be packaged and shipped to a federally approved waste disposal facility.

  • Obtain an accurate representation of the existing ballast & lamp types; room, fixture and fixture placement measurements; light levels; and an accounting of other related existing conditions such as wall, floor, and ceiling colors (to establish reflectance estimates where an increase or decrease in existing light levels may be recommended) and any pre-existing damage to surfaces, rugs, lenses, etc.

  • Recommend appropriate preliminary "go to" measures. This information provides a baseline for the project design work.

  • Define baselines for existing and proposed annual hours of use. This includes interviews with building managers, maintenance people and users. It often results in engineered improvements that would not be obvious with a simple audit.

  • Install data loggers to establish a solid basis for potential energy savings.

  • Reconcile the lighting annual usage with the facility’s total electricity usage. LighTec has established guidelines for most building types.

  • Measure the actual RMS watts of a fair sample of the existing circuits.

  • Following installation, LighTec provides a variety of maintenance options. The most popular include a 1 year warranty on fluorescent lamps, and a 2 year warranty on ballasts with replacement of failed ballasts guaranteed within 72 hours (3 work days) for the first year with a labor credit for subsequent warranty years.

  • A percentage of ballasts and lamps are left on site for emergency replacement. Since the ballasts remain the property of LighTec, we are responsible to maintain the supply until the warranty period is over.

  • Other maintenance options include monthly or quarterly site visits to replace non-emergency failures (emergency failures replaced immediately with a call to our hot-line).

  • LighTec can provide complete cleaning and relamping services.

  • For maintenance that a customer may require that is outside of our warranty, our volume enables us to offer products below distributor levels. We can also provide manufacturer level pricing for lenses.

Lighting System Design
  • Establish a general design plan using the existing conditions and preliminary recommendations. This plan may define, for example, that certain lighting components are appropriate for the corridors in a given facility, but should not be used in offices or classrooms because light levels would be reduced below acceptable standards. Providing quality energy efficient lighting is a primary goal. Technical consistency and ease of maintenance are also key considerations.

  • Develop alternative solutions, within the general plan, for each zone of the building. Customer involvement and acceptance or even an on-site test/demonstration may be necessary in some instances prior to final agreement.

  • Define the final solution for each zone. This takes the form of the Audit Report and serves as the basis for final customer agreement.
  • Following the sale but prior to installation, a LighTec engineer "walks the entire job" with the Audit Report to establish a "build specification" for each zone. This does not materially change the project, but serves as a "how to" guide for project installation.
